I recently had the pleasure of visiting Soyoon Ahn in her new studio, Soyoon Ahn Pottery, located in downtown Russellville. She has created a beautiful, welcoming space that truly invites the community to join her in the world of ceramics.
Soyoon is an incredible person—funny, smart, and exceptionally skilled, yet wonderfully humble. She offers high-quality instruction in various forms of ceramics, including throwing, surface decoration, and glazing. No prior experience is necessary, and she provides all the materials, including clay, glazes, kiln firing, and tools. You can find out about her classes by following her on social media. She is devoted to inspiring a vibrant art community in Russellville, with plans to eventually offer classes in drawing and painting as well.
In addition to teaching, Soyoon creates the most beautiful pottery. I’m excited to share that she will be a featured artist this Friday night, November 8th, from 5-8 PM at the Historic Arkansas Museum in Little Rock. She will be sharing her craft and selling her work at the event. You can also purchase her work online here.

Next May, Soyoon will have an exhibition at Boswell Mourot Fine Arts in Little Rock, showcasing new works inspired by traditional Korean functional ware. She is also developing her stylized Korean Minhwa designs onto pottery, which I can’t wait to see.
From my experience, Soyoon is a delight to visit and learn from. She has a unique talent for making pottery accessible and enjoyable, especially for beginners. We are truly lucky to have her in our community, and I’m excited to see her studio and workshop grow in the years to come.
